INS Arihant, India’s first nuclear ballistic missile submarine, has completed its first “deterrence patrol.

INS Arihant can fire nuclear weapons from underwater.

2. India to extend $310 million loan for Zimbabwe power plant

On Saturday India has announced that it would extend a $310 million loan to Zimbabwe to finance a rehabilitation project for a thermal power plant that would entail upgrading(updating) the station and extending its lifespan.

Hwange is Zimbabwe’s second biggest power plant with a capacity of 920 MW.

3. 18th Indian Ocean Rim Association Council of Ministers Meeting held in Durban

The 18th Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Council of Ministers Meeting was held in Durban, South Africa. Gen. (Dr.) VK Singh (Retd.), Minister of State for External Affairs, attended the IORA Council of Ministers Meeting.

This meeting took place during the on-going celebrations of the 150th year of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 100th birth anniversary of Nelson Mandela.

Mumbai based newly licensed bank (Fino Payments Bank) has been fined of Rs 1 crore by the central bank, said the Reserve Bank of India in a press note on Wednesday.

6.Simone Biles Sets Record With 13th Career Gold at World Championships

Olympic champion Simone Biles became the all-time leading world gymnastics championship gold medal winner when Simone claimed her third gold at the Doha championships on Friday.

Simone Biles’s victory in the individual vault gave her 13 career gold medals, surpassing the record of Belarusian Vitaly Scherbo.

7.’Human brain’ supercomputer with 1 million processors switched on for the first time

The world’s largest” Human brain’ neuromorphic supercomputer SpiNNaker (‘Spiking Neural Network Architecture’ machine), which was designed to work like a human brain, has been switched on for the first time.

SpiNNaker is made up of one million processors, SpiNNaker can complete over 200 million-million actions per second.

8. Subhankar Dey wins the 2018 SaarLorLux Open

Indian Star shuttler Subhankar Dey won the 2018 SaarLorLux Open HSBC world tour 100 level tournament. He is currently world No. 64. Subhankar Dey created a huge upset in the final of SaarLorLux open here in Germany after beating Title favorite Rajiv Ouseph in the final.

Subhankar Dey won the final in two straight games by 21-11, 21-14 in just 34 minutes of play. It is the first title of the year for the 25-year-old Kolkata born Shuttler.
